HP News & Updates Page Added 1/7/04

Important Information About Using This Site

Please read the Ratings System Explanation

These pages contain lists, alphabetically by author, of HP m/m slash stories that have been recommended on various websites, lists, and livejournals (as well as some stories that haven't been recommended elsewhere but that I liked or felt should be included for any one of a number of other reasons).

There is a separate table for each author. Links to the author's website and livejournal, if any, are provided.

Each author's table lists the recommended stories alphabetically. Not every recommended story is listed. I generally list only only m/m slash. Femslash, gen, and het stories are listed only occasionally, at my own whim.

Sequences/series are grouped together. Information that applies to all stories in a sequence is listed on the same row as the sequence title.

For each story the following information is provided:
  • PAIRING: With few exceptions characters are referred to by first name - Sirius, Remus, Harry, Draco, Bill, etc. The biggest exception to this rule is Snape, who is referred to as Snape because that is how I think of him. The other exceptions are the lesser-known or less-frequently-slashed characters, such as Dumbledore and Lockhart.

For pairings involving Harry I've made an effort to list Harry first, but generally, all pairings may be listed in either order. There is no rhyme, reason, or convention to the ordering.

  • REC SITES: I list various places where the story has been recommended. These include:
    • Other people's rec sites. These are identified by my own acronyms. The acronyms link to my Harry Potter Slash Rec Sites page, which lists and provides links to the rec sites. This Rec Sites Page will appear in a javascript window when the link is clicked.
I do not follow every rec site equally. On my Rec Sites Page I attempt to indicate which rec sites I check and cross-reference regularly and which only occasionally. The Rec Sites Page also lists and links to some rec sites that I do not follow or cross reference at all.
    • Yahoo group lists. These are identified by name, or occasionally, if the list is long, by abbreviation (for example, "HP_fanfic_recs" is "HPFR"). Links are to the message in which the story is recommended. Keep in mind that you will not be able to access these messages unless you are a list member.
    • Livejournals. Certain fans and authors whose livejournals I follow may occasionally recommend stories in their LJs (this does not include LJs devoted exclusively to recs). Links are to the LJ entry discussing the story.
I make no claim to be comprehensive or all-inclusive, but I appreciate being notified of omissions or inaccuracies.

  • LOCATION: I've made an effort to list all places the story can be found on the web. These include:
    • Archives. These are identified by my own acronyms. The acronyms link to my Harry Potter Slash Archives page, which lists and provides links to the archives. This Archives Page will appear in a javascript window when the link is clicked.
    • Author Websites. When the story appears on the author website, "Auth" appears in the location section. This is not a link. To find the story follow the link to the author's website at the top of the author table.
    • Livejournals. When a story can be found only on the author's LJ, a link to the LJ entry (labeled "LJ") is provided.
    • Yahoo group lists. When a story can be found only on a Yahoo group list, a link to the list message(s) containing the story is provided.
    • Other. Links to locations that fall into none of the other categories are identified with the label "here."
I make no representations that this list is complete. I appreciate being notified of omissions or inaccuracies.

  • LENGTH: The lengths indicated are intended only to serve as guidelines! Actual length depends on all sorts of factors, such as margins, font size, etc. Works in Progress are indicated with "WIP," followed by the number of pages and parts/chapters as of the date of indicated in the "notes" column. Again, I appreciate being notified of omissions and inaccuracies.

  • NOTES: These may include the following:
    • Ratings. If I've read a story I may provide my story () and smut () ratings in the Notes. These ratings reflect my personal preferences only, and NOT literary merit or writing quality!!! For full explanation of my rating system please consult my Rating System Explanation.
    • My review. I occasionally review or discuss stories in my own LJ. Links to such reviews are provided in the Notes.
    • Other. Any additional relevant information is listed in the Notes.
